A night of Comedy For Harry

..And what a night is was! thanks to @hilariouscomedy

Myself @larks99 and my brother Mick @l4RK1N was talking to our business bank manager Ryan @ryangough about our Cycling event we are taking part in for @Harry_Moseley. Ryan told me that he went to school with Harry’s dad. Ryan being a stand up comic suggested we should put on a charity night to help raise more awareness, generate some more funds and have a great laugh doing it. We thought great, let’s have a bit of this… So Comedy for Harry was born.

Ryan organised the comedians... And what a line up it was! Ryan also used his contacts to get us a venue for free to hold the event. A big thanks to Daz at the New Firs Club in Castle Bromwich for letting us have the room for free and thanks for making it look and sound so great.
The tickets and promoting was done by Me, Mick, Emma, Will and few of the other cycling for Harry members. Thanks to all that helped out with that. You know who you are, great work. The venue sold out within weeks of the event taking place on Easter Sunday.

On the night the room was full and buzzing with everyone having a cracking Easter Sunday night, all for a good cause. The comedians were class. There were a few heckles from a certain ginger bloke, who I think was a little bit tipsy (hammered) shouted out at one point to one of the comedians right when he was in the middle of a brilliant story joke “oi Billy Mitchell” because he thought he looked like a guy from Eastenders. What he really meant was Billy Jackson because the comedian had a bit of an afro. The comedian, Andy White then went on to rip the life out of him to the theme music of Eastenders “Anyone can beeee aaaa TW@T” everyone just doubled up laughing. Haha! #rinsed

After the comedy we did a raffle which seemed to go on forever. At this point we have to say a massive big thanks to Brian Blackwell (@bblackwell77) for doing a great job in riding round on his bike to all the local businesses collecting raffle prizes. You did a brilliant job mate. Thanks for your help.

Also thanks to Dave Farrell ( @b25dave)for his cheque donation of £500.00 that he raised at EH SMITH the builders merchant in Shirley. Dave raised this by asking all of his customers and passing trade to chip in to this worthy cause. Well done Dave and thanks for all your hard work.

The night ended with a disco after party and few of the guests and the team at this point were a bit worse for wear. I remember Brian @BCFCBOZ dancing to a bit of reggae with the massive cheque Dave had presented earlier in the evening. It ended up with most of us throwing a few dodgy shapes I think. Somehow Brian @bcfcboz managed to loose that massive cheque due to his drunken state but it was found a few weeks later at the venue by my niece who attends a dance class at the venue. It was pure comedy all round.

All in all it was a great night and we raised over £4200 with our business bank Barclays doubling what we had raised. Harry’s mom Georgie, Harry’s dad and sister all had an enjoyable night celebrating Harry’s life and superb achievements that will continue to grow over the years.

Follow us at http://www.cyclingforharry.co.uk/ to see our running total so far.  Uder two weeks to go until the event so please give us your full support.
